MCS Computer Technician 1 (Fulltime)
CONTRACT LENGTH:
260 Day contract (12 months); 8 hours per day
SALARY: $19.42-$21.81/hr depending on experience and qualifications. Specific salary range will be determined following the interview process.
Job Description
We are looking for a qualified technician to assist in the day-to-day operations of our IT department as a primary contact for troubleshooting camera telecom and cabling issues as well as processingstudent devices for warranty repairs.
This position will involve working in several capacities throughout the day based on work order requests and will involve working alone or with other technicians to complete school or district initiatives as needed or assigned. As a field technician you will be assigned to the district office and provide service to our schools and other sites across the district. This will require an appropriate level of independence in terms of skill and time management. On-the-job training will be provided for specialized topics but a basic level of pre-requisite knowledge is required. For example you must be generally comfortable with running and terminating cable runs troubleshooting connectivity issues diagnosing and repairing general computer problems (replacing hard drive re-seating cables replace keyboard etc.) toning out a network cable etc. You will also need to be comfortable troubleshooting from a software perspective as this role will involve some troubleshooting and maintenance of our camera system and phone system both of which are managed through software.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of information system hardware and software troubleshooting skills and problem resolution.
- Ability and willingness to learn new systems and technology.
- Demonstrated ability in handling confidential matters in an ethical manner.
- Sound organizational skills and ability to recognize and change work priorities in a timely fashion.
- Must pass a thorough background check and screening.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Associates Degree in related technical field OR A Certification OR equivalent training and experience.
- Experience working in academic institutions preferably K-12 education.
REPORTS TO:
Director of Technology
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The technician will be responsible for maintaining network workstation and peripheral operating systems hardware and software applications. The computer technician will also be responsible for installing network operating systems hardware and software
applications or assisting others in same. The job demands the ability to bend and lift crouch kneel and walk in order to perform essential functions.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS;
- Provide support to end users through their requests for services by troubleshooting site hardware software and wiring problems.
- Monitor ticketing system for service requests and maintain incident documentation on tickets and sorting or elevating tickets to the appropriate parties.
- Provide technical support to school personnel.
- Assist district personnel in the annual repair cleaning and preventive maintenance of district computer equipment.
- Perform repair of hardware including acquisition of parts and maintaining service related records.
- Provide support to the network administrator by being able to backup/restore files on the network shut down and or reboot servers perform basic administration tasks on user accounts while maintaining integrity and network security.
- Provide input as needed for school technology planning and network operations.
OTHER FUNCTIONS;
- Maintain current knowledge base and skills for latest and trending technology applications.
- Promote a positive image of the District and IT Department at all times.
- Participate in school district or administrative meetings as necessary.
- Operate in coordination with Director of Technology Network Administrator Head Technician and other computer technicians as well as individual school administrations.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by Director of Schools Assistant Director of Schools or Technology Department Leadership.
