JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Research the Researcher 1 provides critical support for the Department of Ophthalmology by overseeing day-to-day laboratory operations coordinating research logistics and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This positions primary responsibilities include but are not limited to conducting research with animal models and cell culture; collecting analyzing and interpreting data; supporting the development of research proposals publications and presentations; and maintaining accurate records and research databases. This role requires knowledge of ophthalmic research molecular and cell biology techniques and clinical evaluation methods as well as strong organizational communication and technical writing skills. The incumbent will work closely with faculty research staff and administrative offices to ensure smooth research operations and compliance with institutional and federal guidelines.
Responsibilities- Conducts experimental research with mouse and rat models and cell culture.
- Performs statistical analysis and develops statistical models.
- Evaluates data and outcomes and suggests alternative research methods and modifies or develops new procedures and techniques.
- Designs conducts modifies and sets up experiments studies and investigations.
- Assists in the development of complex research proposals plans and protocols.
- Collects records compiles processes analyzes and interprets data/samples.
- Provides work direction or supervision to students and other research staff.
- Conducts literature reviews and documents and interprets results.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
QualificationsMINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Bachelors Degree. (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)
EXPERIENCE: Three (3) years of experience conducting research using mouse models; ORMasters Degree and one (1) year of experience conducting research using mouse models.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to manage time and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to think and work independently as well as collaboratively.
- Demonstrates effective listening oral and written communication skills.
- Technical writing skills for proposal report and manuscript preparation.
- Ability to create and maintain extensive records on research subjects.
- Knowledge of Basic Research Principles and Federal Code of Regulations for Clinical Research Studies.
- Excellent organizational skills.
WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work evenings.
