Job Summary

Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB)

The IKMB together with the DFG-funded Clinical Research Unit (CRU) CATCH ALL and the Liquid Biomarkers group is looking for an experienced bioinformatician with a PhD in bioinformatics molecular biology genetics informatics or a related field to join our interdisciplinary research position will be hosted at the Institute of Clinical Molecular Biology (IKMB). We invite applications from experienced postdoctoral researchers who are looking for cutting-edge research opportunities in the clinical field. This position requires expertise in informatics biology omics and biostatistics. We expect the ideal candidate to be intensely interested driven and dedicated with respect to our research schedule.

Start in our team

The position isavailable from 01.02.2026 and is funded for four years an ideal springboard in your career ladder to prepare yourself for higher positions. The contract will be issued for 4 years.

What you can expect

  • Integration into the research agenda both within CATCH ALL and within the Liquid Biomarkers group
  • Development and Conduct of original research questions using our unique collection of medical multi-omics data
  • Management of the diverse multi-level data sets in CATCH ALL and provision of bioinformatics solutions for the inherent research questions
  • Data storage in our existing infrastructure (iRods and Yoda) application of pipelines and development of new bioinformatics solutions
  • Opportunities to interact in EU projects such as Instand-NGS4P and EASIGEN-DS with clinicians and researchers at the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein as well as with external researchers nationally and internationally

What you bring with you

  • Command line use in Linux running of cluster jobs (sbatch nextflow snakemake) and mathematical/statistical expertise
  • Programming languages Bash and Python (incl. NumPy and Pandas) handling and uploading codes to GitHub
  • Professional data management skills for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data and other scientific datasets (using iRods Yoda) as well as submission management to ENA EGA and other appropriate repositories
  • Professional skills in processing omics data (scRNA RNA DNA etc.) and interest in spatial data
  • Proven ability and dedication to write and publish high quality scientific manuscripts
