Job Description: RSi is looking to fill a Carpenter position to support our NASA customer.The Carpenter performs the carpentry duties necessary to maintain in good repair building woodwork and equipment such as bins cribs counters benches partitions doors.

Job Duties:

• Planning and laying out of work from blueprints drawings models or verbal instructions.
• Using a variety of carpenters hand tools portable power tools and standard measuring instruments.
• And making standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
• And selecting materials necessary for the work.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience: In general the work of the maintenance carpenter requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience.

Work Environment:

• Tolerating indoor/outdoor construction environments including noise dust temperature variations and working at heights where required by the project.

Physical Requirements (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Using hand and power tools (saws drills planes sanders nailers levels measuring tools) to cut shape fasten and finish materials safely and accurately.
• Frequently standing walking bending kneeling crouching reaching and working in awkward positions to access work areas.

Other Essential Functions (with or without reasonable accommodation):

• Reading and interpreting blueprints drawings work orders and specifications.
• Taking measurements and calculating materials.
• Following safety procedures using required PPE and maintaining a safe organized work area and tools.

Clearance: Must meet eligibility for a Public Trust background investigation for government issued credentials and IT access. Applicants must be able to pass a security background check per Redstone Arsenal/MSFC requirements.
