Class Title:Speech PathologistDepartment:SchoolClassification:Teacher - 183 daysImmediate Supervisor: Director of Pupil Personnel and/or Assistant Director Pupil Personnel Services CLASS DESCRIPTIONThe Speech Pathologist is directly responsible to the Director of Pupil Personnel and/or the Assistant Director Pupil Personnel Services and works in liaison with the building principals. The Speech Pathologist is expected to provide a full range of speech services. He/she will devote his/her efforts toward improving the educational experience of those students with emotional behavioral and learning DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES: the Fall of each year the Speech Pathologist shall screen all Kindergarten children together with those first graders who did not attend Kindergarten. The Speech Pathologist shall also screen students referred to him/her by the principal of the elementary shall make the final decision as to who shall be accepted into the speech handle all C type cases. He/she shall help and guide the classroom teacher in the handling of b type submit to the Director of Pupil Personnel a schedule for approval of classes no later than one (1) month after the opening of shall notify the parents of all children needing help on approved forms and shall obtain the consent of the parent before the child is admitted to the shall be a member of the School Health Council and shall attend meeting of the shall arrange a definite schedule of parent-teacher meetings and notify parents so as to bring about a working relationship between parents and QUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience:Bachelors Degree from an institution approved by the State Board of Regents.5 years experience possess a valid Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) certification as a Speech possess a high degree of tact diplomacy and be detailed oriented with good organizational be proficient with DEMANDSThe physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
