The ParksDivision within our Parks Arts & Recreation Department is looking to hire a Maintenance Worker I.This position requires performing general labor and semi-skilled manual workin themaintenance and repair of City facilities parks and equipment. This involves a variety of tasks which may subject the employee to heavy lifting and strenuous physical activity.
Operating and/or driving various equipmentand machineryincluding but not limited to: pickups one-yard loaders or less tractors and implements sign truck jack-hammers air compressors concrete saws chains saws all mowers except tractor mowers used to cut rights-of-way blowers leaf machines hand equipment chippers small power equipment generators sprayers and spreaders and forklifts.
Performing semi-skilled and general labor workin plumbing electrical mechanical carpentry painting concrete work welding and general maintenance and construction work.
Planting turf trees and shrubs; seeding lawns; pruning trees and shrubs;performing various landscaping work; raking and blowing leaves; safely mixing and/or applying pesticides herbicidesand other chemicals to grounds and landscape.
Installing operating and maintaining irrigation systems.Setting up athletic fields; measuring distanceusing a tape measure or calibrated instrument.
Interacting courteouslywith other employees customers vendors and members of the public.
Correctly and safelyoperating all equipment and toolsused in assigned division.
Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:
A High School Diploma or equivalent; AND
One (1) yearof full-time paid related work experience;AND
A valid drivers license without impending loss at time of appointment.
*If necessary for assigned work an employee will be required to obtain and maintain a Public Pesticide Operators license DSHS Water Supply Certification First Aid Certification Flagging Certification Forklift Certification and/or Defensive Driving Certification or other required certification or license.
