The Department of Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine at Oslo University Hospital invites applications for a full-time (100%) Postdoctoral Research Fellow / Research Scientist position for a period of two years. The position is available for immediate commencement.A reduced workload percentage is possible and there may also be opportunities for extension.

Duties and Responsibilities

Our research group conducts comprehensive clinical and basic biomedical studies aimed at elucidating the etiology of type 1 diabetes and autoimmune diseases with a particular emphasis on viral collaboration with leading international research partners we will undertake in-depth analyses of our biobank which contains tissue samples and other biological materials from patients with newly diagnosed disease. The position will also contribute to the planning of future clinical studies intended to improve prevention strategies for these disorders.

Key responsibilities include:
- Collaborative work with international research laboratories.
- Data management statistical analysis and preparation of scientific publications.
- Oversight and operational management of a clinical research database and biobank.
- Contribution to project development planning and implementation.
- Participation in departmental research initiatives as required.V


The successful candidate will join a dynamic and collegial research environment comprising clinicians and scientists and will engage closely with internationally leading research groups in the field of type 1 diabetes and autoimmune diseases.

Qualifications

  • Applicants should hold a medical degree (MD) and a completed PhD or demonstrate equivalent scientific achievements with relevant research experience in the field.
  • Candidates with a PhD degree in relevant biomedical disciplines but without a medical degree may also be considered provided they possess strong expertise in the research area.
  • Experience with basic biomedical and cell biology laboratory methods as well as prior involvement in clinical studies is desirable.
  • Experience with medical biobank operations and clinical research databases is an advantage.
  • Experience with the use of artificial intelligence tools for analysis and scientific writing is desirable.
  • Experience in applying for external research funding is advantageous.
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills are required.
