Job Summary

Overview

The State Disbursement Unit Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the State Disbursement Unit within the Office of Child Support (OCS). This role includes managing a team of Financial Specialists ensuring the accurate and timely processing of child support payments and maintaining compliance with federal requirements. This position requires diverse experience in using multiple applications/programs such as Adobe all Microsoft programs and many others. It is essential that the right candidate be comfortable using technology.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and provide guidance to Financial Specialist III staff
  • Oversight of the State Disbursement Unit includes managing the daily reconciliation of the ACCESS system and the depository account ensuring accurate entry of accounts payable receivablesand general ledgers in VISION. The supervisor will also handle the reconciliation of financial accounts manage accounts payable and receivable and respond to financial inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate updates address issues and foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Oversee unit training and development to enhance skills and knowledge related to financial operations and child support services.
  • Review and respond to financial requests and inquiries from internal and external customers providing clear and accurate information.
  • Collaborate with internal staff and customers to resolve complex financial issues
  • Ensure all financial operations comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Operations Manager. We are looking for candidates with the minimum qualifications as well as the following:

  • Experience in supervising and leading a team.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles.
  • Excellent organizational analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.

The Office of Child Support is federally mandated to provide holistic family-centered trauma-informed services. Thus in this role impartiality equity empathy and procedural justice are key. Furthermore Child support law is challenging and ever-changing. It requires adaptability openness and flexibility.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting but may involve occasional visits to district offices statewide.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree or higher AND three (3) years or more of experience at a professional level in human services or business administration INCLUDING one (1) year at a supervisory administrative or consultative level.
OR
Associates degree OR two (2) years or more of full-time college coursework AND five (5) years or more of experience at a professional level in human services or business administration INCLUDING one (1) year at a supervisory administrative or consultative level.
OR
High school diploma or equivalent AND seven (7) years or more of experience at a professional level in human services or business administration INCLUDING one (1) year at a supervisory administrative or consultative level.
