Job Summary

The Village at University Gates located in Waterloo Ontario has an exciting opportunity for a Art Therapist to join their team.

Hours: 65 hours monthly

To be successful as our new Art Therapist you will:

  • Be enrolled in or completed a Degree in Art Therapy or equivalent
  • Completed the required hours of internship
  • Be eligible for membership with the Canadian Art Therapy Association
  • Maintain personal professional Liability Insurance
  • Support our residents to be creative and express themselves in a safe and welcoming environment
  • Collaborate with the Recreation team to support our residents to learn grow find life purpose and meaning.

  • Encourage physical emotional spiritual social and cognitive growth for residents

  • Be excited by our objectives our Village philosophy and the family values that shape all aspects of life in a Schlegel Village
  • Display a caring and respectful attitude toward our residents families and team members

It would be an asset if our new Art Therapist has:

  • Previous experience working with seniors
  • Knowledge of therapy practices methods techniques and opportunities to improve residents well-being and holistic health
  • An understanding of the relevant sections of the Long-Term Care Homes Act 2007
