DSHS HCLA AAA Unit Manager
The State Unit on Aging (SUA) within the Home and Community Living Administration (HCLA) of the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS) has an immediate opening for an Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Unit this role you will supervise and manage a team of up to eight program managers while providing oversight on programs and functions across thirteen area agencies on aging. The main objective of this opportunity is to ensure quality services are being provided and that continuous improvement is at the forefront of our work.
The role offers telework with occasional travel and in-office meetings held in Lacey WA.
Some of what you will do:
Provide supervision for Area Agency on Aging (AAA) Program Managers/Administrator
Design Unit work plan to identify goals strategies and timelines to carry out agency objectives
Draft management bulletins
Provide instructions and tools to Program Managers
Manage multiple contracts with multi-million dollar budgets
Facilitate AAA workgroup meetings to meet strategic goals and objectives
Develop and maintain policy procedures and regulations affecting AAA operations
Work with Program Manager staff to develop quality assurance mechanisms
Guide review and provide feedback on program development
Analyze and determine the monitoring program targets and schedule
Analyze data trends between fiscal years
Who Should Apply:
Bachelors degree in social work health or social science public administration related field or year for year equivalent experience for education requirement.
AND
Five years experience planning and/or administering community based supportive services for seniors and/or people with disabilities .
AND
Three years experience with contracting writing contracts and monitoring of contracts.
Preferred knowledge skills and abilities:
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with internal/external stakeholders
- Demonstrated analytic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage staff in ways that improve their ability to succeed in their job
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to develop training curriculum conduct training in one-on-one and group settings and engage staff supervisors and contractors in improving client services
