Job Description: The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse provides comprehensive efficient and compassionate care to adult patients requiring medical-surgical support and continuous cardiac monitoring. The RN performs initial and ongoing assessments interprets telemetry data and ensures age-appropriate and condition-appropriate treatments. This role requires strong critical thinking excellent communication skills and proficiency with Cerner EMR. This is a 36-hour/week night shift 3 12 schedule assignment on MS/Tele Unit 6205 and the clinician must live 50 miles away.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe competent and timely nursing care to MS/Tele patients in alignment with licensure and regulatory requirements.
- Perform initial and ongoing assessments including review of systems and document findings accurately.
- Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry variances and patient condition changes.
- Administer medications treatments and interventions as ordered ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
- Apply knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate patient care.
- Demonstrate the ability to obtain relevant patient information and interpret it to determine care needs.
- Complete admission assessments within required timeframes and ensure accurate documentation in Cerner.
- Support patients families and community needs through education communication and empathy.
- Collaborate effectively with physicians interdisciplinary teams and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies infection control standards and safety practices.
- Participate in shift handoff bedside reporting and ongoing quality initiatives.
Requirements
- Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience Required
- Minimum 2 years of overall RN experience Required
- Cerner EMR experience Required
- Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Required
- Strong assessment telemetry interpretation and clinical decision-making skills
Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) Required
License: Active RN license to practice in Washington DC Required
