Job Summary

Job Description: The Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Registered Nurse provides comprehensive efficient and compassionate care to adult patients requiring medical-surgical support and continuous cardiac monitoring. The RN performs initial and ongoing assessments interprets telemetry data and ensures age-appropriate and condition-appropriate treatments. This role requires strong critical thinking excellent communication skills and proficiency with Cerner EMR. This is a 36-hour/week night shift 3 12 schedule assignment on MS/Tele Unit 6205 and the clinician must live 50 miles away.

Responsibilities

Deliver safe competent and timely nursing care to MS/Tele patients in alignment with licensure and regulatory requirements.
Perform initial and ongoing assessments including review of systems and document findings accurately.
Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond promptly to telemetry variances and patient condition changes.
Administer medications treatments and interventions as ordered ensuring adherence to clinical protocols.
Apply knowledge of growth and development to provide age-appropriate patient care.
Demonstrate the ability to obtain relevant patient information and interpret it to determine care needs.
Complete admission assessments within required timeframes and ensure accurate documentation in Cerner.
Support patients families and community needs through education communication and empathy.
Collaborate effectively with physicians interdisciplinary teams and support staff to ensure continuity of care.
Maintain compliance with hospital policies infection control standards and safety practices.
Participate in shift handoff bedside reporting and ongoing quality initiatives.

Requirements

Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg Telemetry experience Required
Minimum 2 years of overall RN experience Required
Cerner EMR experience Required
Must reside at least 50 miles from the facility Required
Strong assessment telemetry interpretation and clinical decision-making skills

Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) Required

Certifications

Basic Life Support (BLS) Required
Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Required
NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS) Required

License: Active RN license to practice in Washington DC Required
