The Zinfra Projects and Infrastructure business is the trusted partner to deliver construction projects in Transmission Lines Substations (Green and Brown field) Renewable energy storage and Green Gas infrastructure.

About the role:

This key Project Engineer role based in Canberra supports the tendering and delivery of projects for our major client Evoenergy. This position contributes to technical management across all aspects of the project management framework ensuring processes are understood and tasks are completed accurately. Responsibilities include assistance in managing the delivery of large underground utility projects complex projects or overseeing entire small low-risk projects. The role involves developing scopes estimating coordinating tasks and ensuring alignment with overall project objectives. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong technical capability organisational skills and a collaborative approach to delivering high-quality outcomes within established timelines and standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring adherence to site safety and environmental plans and implementing Zinfras safety culture across all activities.
  • Collating data for Health Safety and Environment (HSE) reporting and participating in risk workshops to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Managing portions of large projects or entire small low-risk projects while supporting scope development and resolving discrepancies.
  • Reviewing design drawings and specifications to define scope and providing technical support in areas of expertise.
  • Compiling subcontract packages managing subcontractor activities and contributing to procurement strategies and vendor negotiations.
  • Monitoring progress against the baseline schedule supporting recovery planning and maintaining accurate project records.
  • Implementing risk control measures identifying opportunities and escalating realised risks to management.
  • Preparing estimates to complete activities contributing to cost tracking and developing progress reports for stakeholders.
  • Engaging with stakeholders maintaining positive relationships and contributing to communication plans and project integration processes

About you:

  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills to resolve complex project challenges.
  • Proven planning experience to support project scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Strong capability in the MS Office suite for reporting and documentation.
  • Technical qualification or equivalent industry-related experience in engineering or trade.
  • Understanding of project management processes and ability to apply them effectively.
  • Ability to build customer loyalty through effective communication and relationship management.
  • Experience collaborating with others to achieve project objectives and drive continuous improvement.
