Education:Bachelors degree in Medical Technologyor related fieldpreferred.
Licensure / Certification: American Society of Clinical Pathologists or equivalent certificationpreferred.
Experience: Minimumof one year internship which includes all areasof the laboratory. Minimum of 5years general laboratory experiencepreferred.
Effective communication skills.
Ability to work under stressrespond to change and work independently.
Possess a high degree of motivation organizational ability and the ability to respond to a changing environment.
Able to work all shifts andparticipatein weekend and holiday rotationas needed.
Possess a high degree of professionalism andis able toestablish& maintain a good relationship with patients co-workers & physicians.

Clinical Practice:
Performs all clinical testing accuratelytimely& efficiently (laboratory & point of care).
Reviews andvalidatestest results and follows up with appropriate action.
Records & reports test results.
Maintains instrumentation by performing calibrations maintenance QC & trouble shooting.
Operates all laboratory equipment.
Performs non-technical tasks and indirect patient care activities as required by the situation. (i.e.) Assisting with transportoutpatient/inpatientspecimen collection delivery of blood & blood products.
Responds appropriately to emergency situations such as code blue and emergency operations planetc
Provides supervision of colleagues in their respective service area available for 24-hour accountability in addition to the Administrator/CNO
Communication:

Practicesin accordance withInfection Control guidelines and within the guidelines foran environmentalexposure as outlined in the MSDS.
Practices positive patient identification.
Documentation:
Completes all internal & external documentation required by policies procedures & regulatory guidelines.
Performance Improvement:
Developsmonitors& reports quality indicators for laboratory focusing on turn-around time patient outcomes regulatory compliance & risk management customer service and continuous quality and process improvement.
Participates in performance improvement process teams.
Willingto serve as the facility safety officer.
Ensure accuracy in patient charging; responsible for charge error correction.

Performs research and development: doingcrossover studies statistical analysis methodimplementationand follow-up studies etc.
Attends quarterly Pathology Department meetings.
Attends andparticipatesin MountCarmel General Lab Specimen processing Trinity Lab Counsel andMountCarmel Lab director meetings.
Reviewsproficiencytesting policies and procedures.
Serves as a liaison with the Pathologists clinicalcolleaguesand laboratory staff.
Accepts other responsibilities as assigned.
Participates in the evaluation process by providing objective and subjective information on applicable staff members.
