We are currently looking for:

Test Technologist - Metrology

Location: Filton Bristol

Contract: Full time permanent. 37.5 hours per week

Duties:

Primary Skills:

• Large Volume Dimensional Metrology using laser trackers

• Acoustic Emissions or acoustic monitoring systems

• Strain Gauge installation and measurement

• Experience with optical measurement systems such as Digital Image Correlation or photogrammetry

• Configuration and operation of multi-channel Data Acquisition systems

• Wide knowledge and innovative approach to conventional and emerging methods of metrology

• Knowledge of load cells and other measurement devices

• Software skills (such as Spatial Analyzer Polyworks Zeiss Photron HBK)

• Knowledge of metrology standards and best practice

Our Technologists are required to support:

• Work on critical structural tests from level 6 (Material Coupons) to level 2 (Large Structural Assemblies) of the test pyramid and other business critical projects.

• Secure adherence to the Structures Test Process .04.02 and respect of all transnational processes methods and tools.

• Design and setup of the control and data acquisition systems of the test

• Design and setup of hydraulic loading systems for test rigs

• Performance of structural tests

• Calibration of equipment

• Full Field Measurement application (Digital Image Correlation photogrammetry thermoelastic stress analysis etc)

• Advanced data analytics & correlations including integration with digital toolsets.

Your main tasks and responsibilities will include

• Delivery of one or more technical specialisms - often a healthy mix of hands-on lab and office based work.

• Assistance when required to deliver structural tests.

• Support for innovation sustainability and improvement projects.

• Communication and reporting of progress to the test leader/test customers.

• Launch of subcontracting activities following policy; purchasing and goods receipt.

• Anticipation identification and management of risks & opportunities.

• Regular sharing of knowledge and progress with other colleagues in the test centre.

• Participation in the test centre SQCDP and weekly team meetings.

• Networking & support to build transnational Test Technologies capabilities.

• Integration development and introduction of new lean policies methods and ways-of-working aligned with the transnational requirements and strategy of IACMT.

• Providing feedback and sustaining internal exchanges so that lessons learnt from previous programmes are transferred to the transnational IACMT team.

Our requirements:

You are:

• Educated to degree level (or equivalent) in mechanical engineering or a related discipline (e.g. Aerospace Structures Materials Systems Physics).

• Experience in project management & delivery of projects to time cost quality.

• Experience in structures materials or systems testing would be an advantage.

• Experience in managing suppliers or participating in supplier selection would be an advantage.

Soft skills:

• Pioneering spirit open to new ideas/innovation.

• Good communication skills multifunctional work and customer focused.

• Team worker.

• Proven ability to deliver.

• Use of G Suite.

• Experience or interest in Digital topics / Hybrid Testing & Simulation

• English: Negotiation level. Other languages would be a plus.

Salary: 47000 - 53000 dependent on experience
