Bradley David Associates is looking for a Director of Customs to join our clients team in New Jersey.
You will have the opportunity to shape the future of the companys customs brokerage operations. Your leadership will be crucial in optimising processes maintaining strong client relationships and ensuring operational excellence across all import and export activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the Customs Brokerage department including licensed brokers entry writers and compliance staff.
- Develop and implement strategic initiatives to improve efficiency compliance and profitability within brokerage operations.
- Ensure compliance with all CBP regulations Partner Government Agency (PGA) requirements and trade laws.
- Stay current with changes in trade regulations tariffs and import/export policies; communicate updates internally and to clients.
- Oversee the timely and accurate processing of import and export entries.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for clients providing guidance on customs procedures trade compliance and tariff classifications.
- Recruit train and mentor staff fostering a culture of accountability professional growth and regulatory excellence.
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in supply chain management International Business or related field required.
- Licensed U.S. Customs Broker required.
- Strong experience in customs brokerage import/export compliance
- 5 years in a senior level role within a customs brokerage or freight forwarding organization.
- Deep knowledge of U.S. import/export laws HTS classification valuation and PGA requirements.
- Expertise in ACE ABI systems and brokerage software platforms (e.g. Descartes WiseTech CargoWise).
Required Skills:
Skills & Experience Required: Proven experience in business development or commercial roles within the logistics or oil & gas industry. Solid understanding of project logistics freight forwarding and supply chain operations particularly in energy or industrial sectors. Strong experience in client engagement contract negotiation and solution selling. Bachelors or Masters degree in Business Logistics Engineering or a related field.
