Job Summary

*This position is a short term employment opportunity not to exceed 90 days unless approved by program management*

Aircraft Mechanic - Perform routine scheduled and unscheduled maintenance to include inspection operational test repair modification and troubleshooting on ER-2 (U-2/TR-2) aircraft components and equipment. Applies advanced technical knowledge to solve complex problems and to provide technical assistance guidance and instruction to other employees as needed.

  • Candidate to possess a high degree of expertise on aircraft systems. Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of applicable maintenance/technical manuals publications instructions and special tools and test equipment.
  • Must be familiar with operational capabilities and limitations of aircraft systemsand be able to maintain all aircraft main auxiliary secondary power systems fuel systems engine and bleed air components.
  • Perform troubleshooting testing replacing or repairing worn or damaged components using hand tools gauges and testing equipment; removing the engine from aircraft disassembling and inspecting parts for wear cracks security or other defects and repairing or replacing defective engine parts and reassembles.
  • Required to read and understand maintenance manuals CMP SRM interpret blueprints technical directives planning documents test specifications technical publications and procedures and applicable safety manuals.
  • Must be Customer service-oriented.

Physical Demands:
This maintenance classification activity is usually accomplished in a flight line-like environment with extensive climbing standing stooping bending pushing kneeling stretching and walking demands. May require lifting of objects whose weight normally will not exceed 50lbs. Special vision abilities required to perform this job are close and peripheral vision and acceptable depth perception.

Work Environment:
The diversity of working conditions range from an environment where there is little or no physical discomfort to an environment where inclement weather may subject the individual to severe changes in temperature wind rain etc. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards exposure to fumes airborne particles and electrical shock hazards exist.

Licensing Certification Requirements:

  • Airframe and Powerplants (A&P) License - Required or able to obtain within one (1) year
  • 5 years fixed-wing jet engine aircraft maintenance required
  • H/SAND 5 years experience in ER-2/U-2 aircraft maintenance - preferred
  • U.S. Citizenship - required
  • Valid State Drivers License - required
  • Valid U.S. Passport - ability to obtain and maintain
  • High School Degree or GED - required
  • Ability to travel - required
  • Must obtain basic hand tools and toolbox within three (3) months of hire.

Clearance Required:Able to obtain and maintain U.S. Secret
