The Office of Health and Safety (OHS) champions health and safety management at NTU. OHS oversees various university-level health and safety programs including biosafety chemical safety radiation safety and electrical safety. OHS is also responsible for establishing frameworks and systems that promote and share best practices in safety and health across Colleges Schools Research Centres and Departments.
We are seeking candidates with a strong passion for health and safety and proven experience in managing institutional or corporate health and safety programs and services.
Responsibilities:
Develop review and update NTU standards and guidelines to meet safety and health (S&H) compliance and establish best practices among IHL.
Oversight of Health and Safety Teams within assigned Schools Departments and Centres to develop implement and review the effectiveness of safety and health management systems.
Secretariat for institutional safety and health committees.
Manage S&H applications tabulate and perform data analysis on possible S&H trends and propose suitable actions to address concerns and potential risks.
Provide value added safety and health solutions advice to stakeholders including management staff and students on workplace safety and health issues and methods to minimize or eliminate risks and hazards.
Liaise with governmental bodies and regulatory agencies.
Conduct safety and health audits and inspections of offices research laboratories and their supporting facilities.
Investigate accidents and incidents in offices and laboratory-based faculties/research institutes with safety committee members including reporting to regulators.
Perform data analytics and evaluation of effectiveness of S&H programmes for assigned schools departments or centres.
Organize support and attend events promoting safety and health for staff and students.
Requirements:
A Degree in Electrical Mechanical or Electronics Engineering with postgraduate qualifications in Health Safety and Environmental Management.
At least 5 years of relevant experience in Safety and Health Management preferably at the corporate or institutional level.
Good understanding of local legislation related to workplace safety and health environmental and public health and regulated permits licenses and equipment for various enforcement agencies (including SPF NEA MOM SCDF).
Experience in implementing workplace safety and health for offices facilities management and laboratory-based faculties/research institutes.
Having a Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer (WSHO) certificate; Registered Fire Safety Manager (FSM) certificate; Lead / Internal Auditor Certification for ISO 45001:2018; or relevant experience in developing infrastructure facilities construction safety and health standards and programs will be advantageous.
