Job Summary

Project Overview

We are launching a linguistic data collection project requiring 100 hours of 2-person spoken Maithili conversations (speech time only; silence excluded) and their corresponding transcriptions.
This project supports the development of speech technologies for Maithili.

What You Will Do

We are recruiting for two roles:

1. Audio Contributors (Speakers)

Responsibilities

Participate in 2-person spoken conversations in Maithili.
Contribute up to 4 conversations per person.
Each conversation lasts up to 15 minutes.
Topics will be provided; natural dialogue is required.
Must follow audio quality guidelines.

Requirements

Native speaker of Maithili
Located in one of the following districts:
Darbhanga Saharsa Samastipur Madhubani Muzaffarpur Sitamarhi
Valid pincode must match the NLTM-Pincodes reference list
Gender representation target: 65% male / 35% female
Age distribution targets:
- 2030 years (40%)
- 3040 years (30%)
- 4050 years (20%)
- 5060 years (10%)

Headcount Needed

400 participants total

2. Transcribers (Maithili)

Responsibilities

Transcribe recorded Maithili conversations.
Follow segmentation guidelines and ensure high accuracy.
Work with approx. 150 hours of raw audio (equivalent to 225 hours of transcription time).

Requirements

Native-level Maithili comprehension
Strong attention to detail
Prior transcription experience preferred but not mandatory
