An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician within the Traffic & Safety Team at Leicestershire County Council. We are looking for an individual to join the team and providehigh quality traffic management and road safety initiatives for the benefit of people living working and travelling in Leicestershire.

About the Role

This role will involve working alongside colleagues in the Traffic & Safety team which covers a variety of areas such as Traffic Management Road Safety Road Safety Education Bikeability and School Crossing Patrols.

As a Technician you will be responsible for assisting with the design and delivery of traffic-management and road safety schemes across Leicestershire. These projects will involve small-scale highway improvements such as new signing and lining schemes Traffic Regulation Orders Traffic Calming Casualty Reduction schemes and active travel projects.

The successful candidate will have excellent communications skills as the role also involves responding to road safety queries and concerns from residents businesses Councillors and other third-parties within Leicestershire. Other key duties and responsibilities involve writing technical and non-technical reports inclusive of frequent site visits for problem investigation and assessment.

Good organisation skills and the ability to prioritise work is an essential requirement as the role involves working in a fast-paced hybrid working environment with diverse priorities and challenging deadlines. Use and experience of Microsoft packages are also essential requirements with experience of Confirm and AutoCAD advantageous.

About You

To apply for this post you must have experience of:

  • Working in an engineering setting including design management maintenance or administrative processes in relation to highways infrastructure
  • Experience of accurately capturing storing and retrieving information to meet customer and organisational and needs
  • Problem investigation and assessment
  • Engagement with customers including attending and producing materials for meetings and exhibitions
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Good IT skills including the ability to learn the use of specific highways software such as Confirm

You must also have an understanding of and commitment toequality diversity and inclusion.
