Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.
DJJ is seeking a Plumber/Steamfitter. This role will provide plumbing repairs and installation to water service and sewers as well as minor welding and sheet metal work in support of the Bon Air Juvenile Correctional Center.
Must have a valid drivers license.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable working knowledge of plumbing techniques for maintenance/repair of commercial water and sewer systems and its fixtures including tools and equipment.
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret blueprints drawings and diagrams and use appropriate tools and equipment.
- Considerable experience performing preventative maintenance inspections and inspecting/maintaining physical plant systems.
- Some knowledge of general building maintenance operation and repair.
- Ability to lift heavy objects.
- Ability to serve on-call during nights weekends and holidays on a rotating basis.
Additional Considerations
- Applicable plumbing trades certificate/license.
