11 Paraeducator

Description:
Highland Middle School has an opening for a 1:1 Paraeducator for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year. It will start out as part-time but may become a full time position. The pay rate is $19.93 per hour (ELS PARA or SUB) or $21.00 per hour with a PEL. Benefits include: medical dental and life insurance 2 personal days and 12 sick days. (Prorated to FTE and start date)

Qualifications:
Must possess current and valid ISBE licensure with a PEL SUB or ELS-(PARA) Paraeducator and be registered in Lake County. PEL is preferred.

Behavioral Support:

• Implement behavior intervention plans (BIPs) as directed by the teacher or behavior specialist.
• Support students in managing their behavior emotions and social interactions in various settings (classroom recess etc.).
• Assist with de-escalation techniques and crisis intervention as needed.
• Monitor and document student behavior tracking progress and reporting to the appropriate staff.

Classroom Support:

• Provide one-on-one or small group support to students to reinforce learning.
• Assist in modifying instructional materials to meet the academic and behavioral needs of students.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
• Support students with organizational tasks following schedules and completing assignments.
