About the role Mō te tūranga:
Our Biochemistry Department is seeking a dedicated enthusiastic and skilled Laboratory Technician to join us in a permanent part-time role of 64 hours per fortnight. This will be Tuesday- Friday 08:30-05:30. In this role youll play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of our department and contributing to continuous improvements in quality and efficiency.
This is a fantastic opportunity to make a real impact by supporting accurate and timely diagnostic testing while collaborating with a passionate and professional team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse blood samples accurately following established biochemistry protocols and procedures.
- Report results in line with quality standards and client requirements.
- Ensure timely turnaround of results while maintaining technical and quality excellence.
- Support quality control initiatives and contribute to operational improvements within the Biochemistry team.
- Participate in the weekend roster as needed.

To be successful in this role you need to have:
- Ability to take in assess and respond to information and ideas positively.
- Highly motivated driven and professional in approach.
- Works effectively under pressure with strong focus on safety and quality.
- Organises and prioritises tasks to meet daily targets and turnaround times.
- Knowledge of veterinary medical or scientific terminology is advantageous but not essential.
- Degree or qualifications in a scientific discipline preferred; experience in biochemistry is a plus but not required.
- Committed to continuous improvement and process enhancement.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer literacy and proficiency with relevant systems.
- Flexible and willing to work additional hours when needed.
- Energetic enthusiastic and driven with a positive outlook.
