Job Summary

Project Overview

This is a backfill role. The hiring manager needs a designer with strong product-focused UI capabilities - someone who can create polished high-fidelity interfaces with sophisticated interaction design. The ideal candidate has experience building visually rich interaction-heavy product interfaces rather than traditional marketing or informational web pages.

Key Responsibilities

Plan & Concept

  • Translate ideas into visual concepts using design tools quick sketches whiteboarding and other rapid-ideation methods.
  • Generate and evaluate ideas for improvements based on research analysis and competitive insights.
  • Identify user needs and core business requirements.
  • Justify design approaches with data analysis and projected impact.

Design & Refine

  • Ensure all digital touchpoints align with Uniteds brand and user experience standards.
  • Design intuitive engaging interactions and interface patterns.
  • Develop next-generation navigation components templates and design systems that create a cohesive customer experience across products.
  • Build low- and high-fidelity prototypes through a rapid iterative and collaborative workflow.
  • Partner with usability researchers to design test plans observe testing and translate findings into actionable design improvements.

Define & Communicate

  • Deliver detailed design specifications such as user flows wireframes storyboards mockups redlines and prototypes.
  • Present design work to UX teams product teams and senior stakeholders for review and feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners throughout the design lifecycle.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to align on progress and incorporate feedback with a user-centered mindset.
  • Support developers product managers and project managers during implementation.
  • Work with QA teams to identify document and validate bug fixes.
  • Mentor junior designers as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 years of professional UX design experience required; 8 years preferred.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
  • Successful completion of the interview process.
  • Reliable and punctual attendance.

Technical & Soft Skills

  • Strong foundation in web design principles and understanding of front-end technologies.
  • Deep knowledge of UX design for web mobile and touch platforms.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Experience writing detailed design specifications used by development teams.
  • Self-starter capable of defining scope and building plans even with limited direction.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to explain and defend design decisions.
  • Proven ability to set design direction and collaborate effectively with other designers.
  • Flexible team-oriented mindset suited for a rapidly evolving environment.
