Job Summary

Compensation Range: $20/hr - $21/hr commensurate with experience

Benefits:

Overview:

The Senior Custodian is responsible for cleaning and maintaining Housing Works Cylar house property and its grounds. Performs painting plastering carpentry minor plumbing and mechanical repairs on building fixtures equipment and hardware. Performs and assists with apartment turnovers work orders and other maintenance/repairs tasks as assigned.

Responsibilities:

Primary:

  • Adhere to the custodial and preventative maintenance plan to ensure that the buildings common spaces bathrooms offices residential spaces Laundry Rooms and the buildings grounds are clean sanitary and properly stocked with supplies.
  • Put out trash at the buildings in accordance with NYC guidelines.

Secondary:

  • Assist in the apartment/room turnover process by cleaning out and preparing apartments for new residents utilizing trade skills for minor repairs e.g. carpentry plumbing electrical painting roofing and heating and cooling.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience with and proven commitment to working with low-income and marginalized communities as well as individuals with multiple chronic medical and/or behavioral health conditions.

  • Demonstrated ability to think critically and exercise good judgment as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal day-to-day supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional computer software skills including MS Office suite (Word Excel PowerPoint) and working familiarity with Salesforce or similar platforms.
