Job Summary

Warren Consolidated Schools is seeking applicants for the following position for the 2025-2026 school year.

Location: 0.5 Susick Elementary/0.5 District AT

Purpose Statement

The job of Speech-Language Pathologist - Assistive Technology (AT) is done for the purpose/s of focusing on providing diagnostic and therapeutic services to students with special needs in the area of communication as well as understand train provide coaching/modeling and technical assistance in the area of Alternative and Augmentative/Assistive Technology.

This job reports to the Special Education Supervisor

Essential Functions

  • Ability to assist in transition planning for students with communication disorders to the next level in their school (e.g. preschool-elementary elementary-middle middle-high post high school ) for the purpose of servicing the preschool and school-age population.
  • Ability to be a student advocate for those with communication needs in a school based setting for the purpose of servicing the preschool and school-age population.
  • Ability to be organized and efficient for the purpose of meeting paperwork
  • Ability to collaborate and consult with teachers parents and administrators for the purpose of communicating students needs as it relates to the school-age classroom or preschool population.
  • Knowledge and understanding of diagnostic assessments (e.g. standardized and informal ) for the purpose of treatment of speech and language disorders. This includes understanding the purpose between a screening and full battery: how and when to use them.
  • Knowledge of age-appropriate speech and language development for the purpose of providing services to the preschool and school-age population.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based treatments for speech and language disorders for the purpose of servicing preschool and school-age populations.
  • Knowledge of speech language and voice issues for the purpose of providing services to preschool and school-age populations.
  • Knowledge of the communication needs for multiple impaired populations (e.g. mild cognitive autism preschool developmental delays adolescent populations etc.) for the purpose of servicing the preschool and school-age
  • Rudimentary knowledge of Assistive Technology and how it relates to the communication needs for the purpose of providing services to multiple populations.
  • Understanding of how to collect analyze and utilize data related to speech and language issues for the purpose of making decisions about treatment and certification.
  • Understanding of how to connect classroom curriculum to certification decisions writing appropriate goals and treatment plans for the purpose of servicing multiple populations.
  • Understanding of Medicaid billing for the purpose of servicing school-based
  • Understanding of MTSS and the role of an SLP for the purpose of servicing multiple populations in a school-based
  • Understanding of special education law and how to write an IEP for the purpose of servicing multiple

Other Functions

  • Act as District Coordinator of the AT Leadership Team and AT Building teams for the purpose of meeting IEP compliance and supporting students unique needs.
  • Collaborate with Curriculum Instructional Technology Specialists at the district level for coordinated services for the purpose of servicing students with special technology needs.
  • Coordinate and implement Professional Development in Assistive Technology for multiple groups (e.g. administrators teachers paraprofessionals and parents ) for the purpose of supporting all students in universal design for learning.
  • Facilitate and ac as coordinator of the District AT Plan every year for the purpose of supporting students with special needs in assistive technology and compliance with MDE.
  • Inventory software tools logins/passwords for each building and the district for the purpose of providing appropriate assistive technology opportunities to students.
  • Lead and assist teams in AT Evaluations and AT Trials for the purpose of building capacity in building level teams in assistive technology compliance.
