The Water Treatment Plant Operator will:
- Ensure compliance with divisions policies and procedures standards of quality and safety and all applicable local state and federal laws and regulations
- Attend all required training and acquires CEUs to maintain Physical/Chemical Wastewater Operator license
- Adhere to safety culture and follows procedures to ensure safe working environment
- Report any safety hazards promptly that cannot be corrected or mitigated at individual level
- Adjust biological chemical and/or physical processes to ensure plant is operating properly
- Troubleshoot the plant when there are operational upsets
- Run control system in accordance with supervisory guidelines to achieve discharge quality and volume requirements
- Assist with or directly performs in field maintenance as needed on pumps/valving/equipment
- Perform shift inspections and reports aberrations promptly to supervision if unable to correct
- Perform routine measurements and records results through spreadsheets and communicates via email
- Use mobile equipment as necessary for transporting reagent totes/skids
- Perform all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs
Physical Requirements:
- While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand sit demonstrate manual dexterity climb stairs talk hear and see.
- Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts on a rotating day and night schedule.
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
- Work is in a surface mine plant setting which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment including hart hat hearing protection safety glasses safety footwear and as needed respirator rubber steel-toe boots protective clothing gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
Qualifications :
- Associate degree or the equivalent of two years of college with studies in hard science such as engineering chemistry geology biology mathematics or physics OR
- Four years in water/wastewater plant operations (or closely related field)
- Current physical/chemical license of C level or higher could accelerate considerations
