DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated and experienced Stamping Plant Trial Engineer to join our manufacturing team. Reporting to the Trial Specialist this critical role will be responsible for the direct management and oversight of all material and process trial activities within our stamping facilities. The Stamping Plant Trial Engineer will ensure the seamless execution of trials from material coordination and line scheduling to data collection and cross-functional communication ultimately contributing to the successful validation and implementation of new materials and processes in our production environment.
ResponsibilitiesKey Responsibilities:
- Trial Management & Oversight:Directly manage and oversee all aspects of trial activities conducted within the designated stamping plants ensuring adherence to protocols and objectives.
- Material Logistics Coordination:Coordinate the scheduling and delivery of incoming coils and blanks for trials working closely with Material Planning & Logistics (MP&L) teams.
- Material Procurement for Trials:Generate requests for spot buy materials and/or obtain necessary reference numbers for trial-specific material procurement.
- Production Line Scheduling:Submit and manage requests for stamping line and subassembly releases required for trial execution.
- Quality Assessment Lead:Serve as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the assessment of dimensional accuracy Argus data and surface quality results obtained from trial materials.
- Trial Data Collection:Lead the on-site collection of critical data during stamping trials including but not limited to Formability Limit Diagram (FLD) panel collection and rack tagging for material traceability.
- Downstream Material Communication:Communicate and coordinate the shipment of trial parts to Sub-Assembly and Assembly plants ensuring proper tracking and containment of these specific materials.
- Reporting & Communication:
- Attend Stamping Plant Manage the Change meetings to report on trial activity status and progress.
- Attend and provide comprehensive reports on stamping plant trial status to the BCSE (Body & Chassis Stamping Engineering) Trial Specialist on a monthly or bi-weekly basis.
QualificationsQualifications:
- Education:Bachelors degree in Engineering (e.g. Mechanical Engineering Industrial Engineering Materials Science Manufacturing Engineering) or a related technical field.
- Experience:Specify desired years e.g. 3 years of experience in stamping operations manufacturing engineering or a related role within the automotive industry.
- Technical Expertise:Strong understanding of stamping processes material handling and quality control methodologies (dimensional surface analysis).
- Project Coordination:Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and coordinate complex activities within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Communication Skills:Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively liaise with various internal departments and present technical information clearly.
- Problem-Solving:Demonstrated ability to identify issues analyze data and implement effective solutions.
- Attention to Detail:Meticulous attention to detail particularly in data collection material tracking and quality assessment.
- Computer Proficiency:Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant engineering software.
- Travel:Ability to travel regularly to various stamping plant locations as required.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Fords manufacturing systems and processes.
- Knowledge of material planning and logistics (MP&L) operations.
- Familiarity with quality tools such as Argus.
