ABOUT THE POSITION AND THE ECONOMICS PROGRAM AT NORMANDALE
The members of the Economics Department are committed to providing a solid foundation in economics to students of all backgrounds. We believe in supporting a quality education experience that provides learning opportunities for our diverse student body. Our curriculum offers courses that prepare students for completion of the Economics Transfer Pathway degree other degree programs and for transfer. We value a diversity of approaches and backgrounds in our faculty members. The Economics Department encourages a participatory and democratic faculty culture and affirms the engaged role our faculty have played in service to the college.
Normandale Community College is striving to achieve racial equity in educational outcomes. The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach in an inclusive student-ready and culturally responsive manner to meet the needs of our diverse student body.
Teach a broad spectrum of Economics courses including day and evening classes and utilizing different instructional modalities including online face to face and hybrid delivery formats.
Work as a team member in maintaining a student-ready learning environment that meets the educational needs of a diverse student body.
Contribute to department division and college goals which provide the basis for program planning implementation evaluation and support
Engage in scholarly activities consistent with the colleges goals
Be committed to the success and retention of underrepresented students
Demonstrate knowledge of and experience in assessment of student learning outcomes.
Participate in the development and improvement of curricula and courses.
Participate in faculty and department meetings and College-wide committees.
Minimum Qualifications
Masters degree with a major in Economics or a Masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in Economics.

Faculty shall have a degree in education or three years of successful full-time (or equivalent) teaching experience prior to being hired or shall be required to complete coursework in the above content areas (or their equivalent) prior to being granted unlimited status.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework beyond the Masters degree
Post-secondary teaching experience
An ability to deliver an engaging teaching presentation in a clear and organized manner at a level appropriate for the Normandale student
Experience serving diverse and underserved populations
An understanding of the community college mission and its unique population
Experience in online learning and/or course delivery using web-based course management systems such as D2L
Experience in using innovative teaching and learning approaches
Experience providing specific strategies to create a sense of belonging within the classroom
Experience teaching courses with innovative teaching practices to support the success and retention of underrepresented students including students of color first-generation students and Pell eligible students
Evidence of continuous professional development related to diversity equity and inclusion
Demonstrated commitment to collegial activities - service on committees developing assessment and guiding students.
