Job Description
The Emergency Room Registered Nurse will provide high-quality efficient and compassionate care in a rural emergency department setting. This role requires strong critical-thinking skills adaptability and the ability to manage a wide range of patient conditions with increased autonomy.
Key Responsibilities
Perform rapid assessment and triage of patients entering the Emergency Department.
Provide comprehensive emergency nursing care including IV initiation medication administration wound care splinting and cardiac monitoring.
Respond promptly to trauma cases cardiac events respiratory distress and other critical situations.
Assist with emergency procedures such as intubation central line placement chest tube insertion and resuscitation efforts.
Operate and monitor ED equipment including cardiac monitors EKG machines defibrillators glucometers and IV pumps.
Maintain continuous observation and promptly report changes in patient condition.
Collaborate with physicians paramedics and multidisciplinary team members to ensure coordinated care.
Educate patients and families on treatment plans medications and discharge instructions.
document assessments interventions and patient responses accurately in the EMR.
Uphold infection control patient safety and emergency readiness standards.
Participate in codes trauma activations rapid responses and other emergent situations.
Provide care to patients of all ages and conditions typical in a rural ED environment.
Coordinate and facilitate safe patient transfers to higher-level care facilities when needed.
Requirements
Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room RN experience.
Certifications Required
Active RN License (State or Compact)
BLS (AHA)
ACLS (AHA)
PALS (AHA)
TNCC
