New Westminster Schools delivers a wide range of programs and services from Kindergarten to Grade 12 instruction and our alternate programs. We currently have 1 secondary school 8 elementary schools and 3 middle schools.

About the Position:

We are seeking responsible and dynamic individuals to join our list of Uncertified Short-term Teachers on Call. Preference will be given to individuals with a demonstrated work history or volunteer experience working with children and youth.

Working under the direction of the school administrator our Uncertified Short-term Teachers on Call (STTOCs) will supervise students maintain a positive learning environment and follow a set day plan in the event that a teacher is absent and a certified teacher is not available.

Uncertified Short-term Teachers on Call (STTOCs) would not be dispatched until all certified Teachers Teaching on Call are dispatched. The district experiences TTOC shortages daily and applicants must be prepared to work on an on-call basis.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Provide supervision and ensure the safety of students in the classroom during the absence of the regular teacher.
  • Carry out learning activities and follow lesson plans left by the classroom teacher.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment.
  • Communicate effectively with school staff and students to support a smooth transition during the teachers absence.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to the needs of each assignment.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or the equivalent academic qualifications or other post-secondary education
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in working with children and youth through employment or volunteer work
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with students staff and parents.


Compensation: $275.00 per day or proportionate for half-day no other benefits apply other than those as required by law.
