Job Description
The ER is a 12-bed unit that provides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies values and mission of the organization. The Director is responsible for the overall operation and direction of patient care in the Emergency Care setting.
- Manages staff members in the Emergency Department
- Consults with staff physicians CNO and COO on nursing problems and interpretation of hospital policies to ensure patient needs are met.
- Maintains performance improvement activities within the department.
- Assists in formulating budget.
- Responsible for staff education and development.
- Develops and implements departmental goals plans and standards consistent with clinical administrative legal and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization.
- Directs and evaluates departmental operations including patient care delivery information technologies service level determination and complaint management to achieve performance and quality control objectives.
- Plans and monitors staffing activities including hiring orienting evaluating disciplinary actions and continuing education initiatives.
- Prepares monitors and evaluates departmental budgets and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.
- Coordinates and directs internal/external audits.
- Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.
- Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
Masters degree preferred
Applicable work experience may be used in lieu of education
Certifications:
Basic Life Support (BLS) required one month from hire date
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) six months from hire date
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) six months from hire date
License:
Registered Nurse licensed to work in the state of Kentucky
