Job Title: Linux Engineer
Job Purpose: We are looking for an L1 Linux Engineer to provide first-line support monitoring and basic administration for Linux-based servers. The role involves handling day-to-day incidents executing predefined procedures and escalating issues to L2/L3 teams when necessary. This position is ideal for candidates starting their career in Linux system administration with strong fundamentals and eagerness to learn.
Experience:3
Responsibilities:
- Monitor Linux servers and critical services using standard monitoring tools.
- Respond to alerts tickets and incidents in a timely manner.
- Perform basic user and group management (create modify disable accounts).
- Manage file system permissions and handle routine storage tasks.
- Execute regular health checks on servers (CPU memory disk utilization).
- Apply routine OS updates and patches under guidance.
- Start stop and check status of common services (SSH Apache/Nginx etc.).
- Perform backup verification and assist in restore requests.
- Escalate complex issues to L2/L3 Linux engineers with detailed troubleshooting logs.
- Maintain accurate documentation for activities and resolutions.
- Follow ITIL processes for incident change and problem management.
Mandatory:
- Basic knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL CentOS Ubuntu SUSE).
- Familiarity with command-line operations (file management permissions processes).
- Understanding of networking fundamentals (IP DNS ping traceroute).
- Awareness of basic storage concepts (mounting partitions LVM).
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to follow runbooks.
