JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: HVAC Maintenance Technician
Responsible to: Director of Maintenance Assistant Superintendent for Business
Summary: Responsible for overseeing maintenance and repairing district HVAC equipment. Specific duties include repairing rebuilding and replacing bearings motors heat exchanges air conditioning compressors heating boilers ventilation air conditioning systems and order and maintain inventories.
Job Goal: To ensure that HVAC systems are properly designed installed and functioning in such a manner that ensures energy efficient operations throughout the district.
Qualifications:
- Must be clean neat and professional.
- Must be a self-starter and have the initiative to work steadily and effectively without immediate supervision.
- Must be able to communicate effectively with others.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds on a routine basis. Minimum physical requirements include lifting standing sitting squatting walking working while lying on back or side in close quarters underground or high elevations.
- Must comply with all Carthage R-9 policies and regulations and with all local state and federal laws and codes.
- HVAC Excellence NCCER or PHARRA certification.
- Formal training in chiller cooling tower boilers furnaces refrigeration and air conditioning maintenance and repair.
- 3 to 5 years work related experience.
- P.A./C.F.C. Universal Certificate.
- Computer knowledge.
General Responsibilities:
- Install maintain and repair heating ventilating air conditioning and boiler/chiller equipment and systems to optimize energy use.
- Assist contract labor technicians in trouble-shooting systems.
- Inspect and verify the performance and safety of all heating boilers rooftop units air handling units and ventilation systems.
- Perform acceptance inspections of new constructions and renovations of HVAC systems.
- Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace follow safety rules and practice safe working habits.
- Ability to repair and maintain walk-in freezers coolers ice machines and drinking fountains.
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
