Job Summary

Primary Purpose:

Oversee all custodial staff and activities ensuring all facilities are clean safe and functional and manage the custodial budget supplies and equipment for all VISD facilities. Establish and supervise cleaning schedules inspect facilities troubleshoot maintenance and security issues and coordinate with administrators staff and vendors about the cleanliness and efficiency of building operations and grounds. Ensure service requests are submitted to Maintenance for all work beyond the scope of custodial staff.

Qualification Guidelines:

Education/Certifications:

High School diploma or GED

Valid Texas drivers license

Experience:

Five years experience in custodial services within VISD or other public-school system preferred

Two years leadership experience leading teams larger than 20 staff members preferred

Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

1. Strong communication skills to work effectively with administrators staff students and vendors.

2. Strong leadership skills to lead train and mentor a staff of over 100 personnel with the assistance of a Assistant Custodial Supervisor.

3. Knowledge of routine custodian practices and methods

4. Knowledge of equipment chemicals and materials used in cleaning processes

5. Knowledge of minor repair techniques and building and grounds maintenance

6. Ability to manage personnel

7. Effective planning and organizational skills
