Salary Schedule: MEA Bachelor & Master Base & TRI Schedules at School Psychologist will consultwith instructional staff parents and students regarding the provision ofappropriate educational services for all students; will identify assessevaluate and make recommendations for educational placement of exceptionalchildren; will serve as liaison with medical mental health and educationalcommunities regarding student needs.
MinimumQualifications:
- Valid Washington StateEducational Staff Associate (ESA) certificate with School Psychologistendorsement
- Excellentoral and written communication skills
- Successful experienceat appropriate grade level preferred
- Experienceand/or training with cultural ethnic and language diversity preferred
DesiredSkills:
- Knowledgeof general and special education curriculum instruction and the mandates ofeducational reform in Washington State
- Knowledgeof individual and group assessment techniques data gathering and statisticalanalysis
- Knowledgeof current technology and computerized data management systems
- Knowledgeof federal and state laws and regulations governing the education of studentswith disabilities including IDEA and section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act
- Strongskills in oral and written communication.
- Strengthin developing and maintaining effective working relationships with studentsparents staff and community agencies
Essential Job Functions:

- Demonstratea thorough understanding of the special education process and the essentialrequirements with regard to PL 101-476 and WAC 392-172A
- Coordinateassessment of students referred to special education including pre-referralinterventions and Professional Evaluation Group (PEG) assessment
- Participatein the evaluation of students suspected of having a disability
- Participateas a member of the Professional Evaluation Group (PEG) in identifying studentswith disabilities as outlined in the Washington State Rules and Regulations forStudents with Disabilities
- Expressthoughts concisely accurately and effectively both orally and in writing
- Communicatetest results to parents and school staff
- Completeclearly written and comprehensive reports which provide practicalrecommendations
- Facilitatedata based team decision making development of appropriate programs determinationof student placements and monitor effectiveness of interventions
- Provideresources training support and modeling of effective instructionalstrategies and methods to special and general education staff students andparents
- Work cooperatively to establish andmaintain positive relationships with students parents staff and communityagencies.
- Managetimelines pursuant to WAC 392-172A-104. Submit all required paperwork within atimely manner adhering to all federal state and local laws and policies
- Providedirect counseling services to students in classroom small groups andindividually
- CompleteFunctional Behavior Assessments and Behavior Intervention Plans as required
- Stayabreast of current trends in the profession and translate appropriate researchto practical applications in the areas of counseling curriculum instructionand assessment
- Maintainprofessional competence through continued education training and professionalgrowth activities
- Modelrespect and honor the dignity of all students staff and parents
- Providea safe positive and effective environment that reflects and facilitateslearning
- Workcooperatively with parents school staff and administrators in providingdirect and indirect services to students with disabilities
- Maintainconsistent presence at assigned worksite and regular work hours
- Professionallyinteract with students staff and public
- Establish andmaintain professional contacts with students
- Comply with alldistrict policies and procedures
- Comply with theCode of Professional Conduct
