SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of Oral Surgeon the position will demonstrate a strong work ethic professionalism and a genuine interest in oral surgery and patient care. As a key member of our clinical team the role will assist the Oral Surgeon in a variety of procedures ensuring patient comfort and safety throughout the surgical experience. You will also support the day-to-day operations of the surgical suite while gaining valuable hands-on experience and professional development.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oral Surgery Support

• Prepare patients for oral surgery including medical history review and pre-op/post-op instructions.

• Assist oral surgeon during procedures maintaining patient airway and monitoring vitals.

• Complete sedation documentation including moderate sedation flow sheets.

• Perform IV removal discharge preparation and post-procedure updates to patient records.

General Dental Assisting

• Support four-handed dentistry instrument prep suctioning and mixing materials.

• Take x-rays impressions medical histories and vital signs; maintain accurate records.

• Educate patients and assist with restorative and preventive procedures.

• Place/remove rubber dams matrix bands temporary crowns and sutures; monitor nitrous oxide.

• Ensure sterilization radiation safety compliance and operatory readiness.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Active BLS or within three months of hire

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Willingness and open to learn oral surgery procedures.

• Excellent oral and written communication skills with a compassionate patient-focused attitude for routine interaction with staff patients and visitors.

• Dental Assistant Certification (CDA) with NYS or the Dental Assistant National Board (DANB).

• Prior surgical experience

• Prior experience in a general or specialty dental practice

PAY RANGE:

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience relevant qualifications specialty internal equity location and contracts.
