POSITION SUMMARY
Borden Dairy is seeking adetail-orientatedandsafety-consciousprofessional to join our team asFleetMechanic 1.âIn this dynamic role you willmaintainand repair mechanical transportation equipment to aid in the distribution of all company products in a safe manner.â
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform basic preventative maintenance inspections and service on mechanical transportation equipmentin accordance withmanufacturers specifications and company guidelines.
- Some troubleshooting diagnosis and repair experience on HVAC systemsare important.
- Perform basic troubleshooting and minorrepairon mechanical transportation equipment including but not limitedtoelectrical systems powertrain air and brake systems suspension systems and maintain fleet tires.
- Comply withall company work and safety rules and regulatory compliance rules and regulations.
- Use all personal protective equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Possess the necessary personal tools to perform duties.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalentrequired.
- One year certificate from college or technical school; or one-year related experience and/or training in general transportation equipment maintenance and repair; or equivalent combination of continued education and experience.
Other Functions:
- Ability to read write perform basic mathematical calculations and accurately record datarequired.
- Must be willing to work overtime weekends holidays and varying shifts asrequired.
- Must be able tofrequentlystand walk kneel reach climb pull and bend with full range of body motion.
- Must be able tofrequentlylift and/or move 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds.
- Must be able to work independently and/or on a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills anda systematicapproach to troubleshooting and problem solvingisrequired.
Certificates Licenses Registrations:
- Must have or be able to obtain a Class A or B commercial drivers license permit within 6 months of hire (mustpossessa valid Class CDL-A or B and Medical Examiners Certificatein accordance withFMCSA Part 391.41 prior tooperatinga commercial motor vehicle for the Company on public roadways).
- Must have or be able to obtain all EPA licensing and/or certifications consistent with field requirements including but not limited to EPA Clean Air Act Section 608 Type II and EPA Clean Air Act Section 609 MVAC certifications within 3 months.
- Must have or be able to obtain Brake Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA Part 396.25 within 3 months.
- Must have or be able to obtain Annual Inspector Certification as defined in FMCSA Part 396.19 within 3 months.
Working Conditions:
- Must be able to work in hot and cold climates both indoors and outdoors and on mechanical transportation equipment.
PHYSICALDEMANDS
- Must be able tofrequentlystand walk kneel reach climb pull and bend
- Must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; and occasionally 75 pounds
- Must be able to work for extended periods in a cold damp environment
- Certificates Licenses Registrations:Forkliftand/or pallet jack certification as provided by the company
