The Impact You Will Have:

As an Engineering Manager at Sonar you will be leading a new squad of 4-8 developers whose focus is onmaking SonarQube the best tool for Code Quality and Security. You will lead a team focused on providing new features to deliver high quality and powerful products and services that help our users write better software.

By joining us you will bring your experience and expertise to help push our product to its next stage of evolution and fulfill the needs of our large user and customer base. You will also help to bring consistency across Sonars engineering organization by collaborating closely with your engineering manager peers to foster and share engineering best practices.

What You Will Do Daily:

    • Lead and manage a team of Engineers providing guidance support and mentorship to help individuals grow in autonomy and contribute to the teams success.
    • Hold yourself and your team accountable to a high engineering standard.
    • Foster a safe culture of feedback continuous improvement and collaboration encouraging team members to share their ideas and concerns openly.
    • Align feedback with other teams to ensure things operate smoothly between teams.
    • Partner with product managers designers and team leads to develop and communicate a clear vision for the squad that aligns with the company strategy and ensure that the teams work and focus align with this vision.
    • Ensure the squad defines clear objectives that are aligned with team department and company goals.
    • Be accountable for tracking sprint progress.
    • Be accountable that processes and ceremonies align with company expectations to deliver the best product successfully.
    • Ensure that the right level of collaboration happens with the squad stakeholders (Product Managers developer squads Marketing Management etc.).
    • Partner with the Hiring team to recruit talented Engineers for the team. Participate in improving the hiring process for the team and ensuring we recruit enough to reach our goals.
    • Be accountable that the onboarding of new team members is happening in the squad.
    • Lead by example modeling the behaviors and values that the company holds dear including humility and servant leadership.

The Experience You Will Need:

    • 8 years of software development or equivalent experience in the software development domain with a strong understanding of software testing.
    • Having a developer mindset: experience with coding lifecycle ability to produce secure code to do code reviews and to jump into an unknown codebase language and framework.
    • Advanced knowledge of the Java ecosystem and a good understanding of the DevOps mindset.
    • Good knowledge of at least one programming language along with its development environment to understand end-users context and expectations.
    • Experience with Agile methodologies.
    • Nice to have: Experience with AWS and experience with organization compliance processes (SOC 2 SOX).

    • 2 years of experience in a leadership or management role with a proven track record of delivering results and building high-performing teams.
    • A growth mindset and a passion for helping individuals and teams reach their full potential.
    • Strong decision-making skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and resources effectively.
    • Capability to make concrete progress in the face of ambiguity and imperfect knowledge.

    • Ability to clearly identify the problem to be solved and articulate it before jumping to possible solutions/actions.

    • High level of autonomy and still accepting help and feedback from team members and peers.
    • Ability to challenge yourself and resolve conflict.
