Purpose of Position:
Maintains repairs installs and modifies a variety of heating ventilation air conditioning and refrigeration equipment.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Electrical: troubleshoots and wires electrical electronic and pneumatic control circuits. Reads sketches and traces circuit schematics with test and measurement instruments.
Mechanical: performs troubleshooting routine and repair service as well as overhaul of various types of refrigeration equipment and systems air handlers boilers furnaces heating and hot water systems pumps compressors and all associated auxiliaries.
Fabrication: repairs fabricates and installs all types of piping instrument systems sheet metal and structural components.
Documentation: must be able to use follow and understand the manufacturers maintenance and service literature assist in ordering parts maintain machinery history logs and follow the guidelines of a preventive maintenance and work order system. Works under general supervision. Develop and document PM requirements.
Qualifications:
A high school diploma or GED equivalent plus H.V.A.C. training courses are required plus four (4) years experience as a journey level HVAC or a journeyman in a related trade.
To be qualified as a journeyman an individual must have completed the required training through a formal apprenticeship program.
Must be able to read and sketch basic diagrams interpret plans and specifications.
Preference will be given to individuals with comprehensive skills training and centrifugal chiller experience.
Must be able to follow job related oral and written instructions in English.
Demonstrate skilled safe use of power and hand tools and operate within the guidelines of the work order system.
Preference will be given to individuals with skills training knowledge of multiple building trades codes and the ability to train others.
Must be able to lift and move moderately heavy objects up to 65 lbs. safely.
Knowledge of applicable safety procedures and regulations required.
Frequent kneeling and bending of the legs and back required.
Be able to work at elevated heights such as roof tops extension ladders on scaffolding etc.
Must possess a valid California drivers license.
