Basic Job Functions:
Nucor Steel Birmingham Inc. is seeking applicants for the position of Refractory Utility. The Refractory Utility is responsible for improving safety housekeeping forklift operations overhead crane operations rigging assisting in all aspects of refractory work including KT Grant operations ladle relining tundish rebuild and furnace relines. This position will require working some weekend coverage and being on call for furnace refractory work as needed. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate lead and uphold safety policies practices procedures and housekeeping standards at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:
1 year Refractory or Melt Shop experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Overhead crane operations and industrial work experience
- General mechanical aptitude
- The ability and desire to pursue positions of increased responsibility
