Purpose
The Senior Manager Global Clearing Platforms and Payments Transformation will lead strategic initiatives focused on the modernization of Scotiabanks core payments infrastructure. This role is pivotal in the planning identification and selection of an enterprise-wide cash book solution to support the de-risking and phased replacement of legacy architecture throughout the GTB footprint. The successful candidate will also drive integration efforts across GTBs North-South payments franchises ensuring alignment and operational continuity across geographies.

This individual will contribute to the overall success of the team ensuring individual goals plans initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the teams business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted follow governing regulations internal policies and procedures.

What Youll Do:

  • Lead the evaluation and selection of a scalable enterprise cash book platform to support multi-currency operations and ledger integrity across the banks operating footprint within High Value Payments.
  • Collaborate with Finance Operations and Technology to define functional and technical requirements aligned with strategic modernization goals.
  • Facilitate alignment between Canadian and U.S. GTB operations to ensure seamless cross-border payment flows and data harmonization and support the design and implementation of shared services and standardized processes across GTB franchises.
  • Applies in-depth knowledge of existing relationships between product operations and technology infrastructures to coordinate and monitor for cross-utility interdependencies contributions and efficiencies in operations and technology platforms to maximize resources and ensure projects are aligned with business line and Enterprise strategic objectives.
  • Understand how the Banks risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
  • Creates an environment in which pursues effective and efficient operations of respective areas while ensuring the adequacy adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk regulatory compliance risk AML/ATF risk and conduct risk including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct.
  • Contributes positively to a high-performance culture with strong retention strategy and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work environment.

What Youll Bring:

  • Proven leadership and exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage complex initiatives and drive results.
  • Extensive experience in corporate finance and/or payments ideally within a consulting or banking environment (considered an asset).
  • Deep understanding of payment products infrastructure market practices and regulatory frameworks with the ability to navigate evolving industry standards.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills including conflict resolution to effectively engage diverse internal stakeholders technology partners and external vendors.
  • Post-secondary education combined with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in a transferable field.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish (preferred but not required).
  • Accounting background and professional designation (such as CPA) considered an asset.
