Job Summary
Job Title: Safety Officer Chemical Plant
Develop implement and monitor workplace safety programs in compliance with statutory regulations and company policies.
Conduct regular safety audits inspections and risk assessments within plant facilities.
Ensure proper handling storage and disposal of hazardous chemicals in accordance with environmental and safety standards.
Investigate incidents near-misses and accidents to identify causes and recommend corrective actions.
Deliver safety training and toolbox talks to employees and contractors on safe work practices and emergency procedures.
Maintain up-to-date safety documentation permits and compliance records as per legal requirements.
Collaborate with plant operations maintenance and production teams to address safety concerns and reduce hazards.
Monitor usage and maintenance of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and ensure adherence to safety protocols.
Coordinate with statutory authorities during safety inspections and audits.
Lead emergency response drills fire safety training and evacuation planning.
Essential Qualifications
Bachelor s Degree / Diploma in Engineering or Science with a specialisation in Safety Environment or Industrial Safety.
Mandatory: Diploma in Industrial Safety from a recognized institute (as per Factories Act / State Rules).
Certification in First Aid Fire Safety and HAZMAT handling will be an added advantage.
Skills Required
In-depth knowledge of chemical plant safety standards OSHA regulations and environmental guidelines.
Strong understanding of Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
Analytical and problem-solving skills for incident investigations.
Ability to handle emergency situations with calmness and efficiency.
Computer literacy for maintaining safety records and preparing reports.
