Austin Bridge & Road has an exciting opportunity for a QCQA Technician I to join our team. This role involves verifying that work is installed according to plans and specifications performing concrete testing and maintaining accurate QC documentation. The ideal candidate will have experience in roadway or heavy civil construction and a strong understanding of inspection processes.
Responsibilities:
- Verify work installation per project plans and specifications
- Perform concrete testing including slump air and temperature checks
- Inspect rebar size spacing and clear cover
- Conduct formwork inspections for dimensions and elevations
- Monitor concrete placement and ensure compliance
- Complete QC forms accurately and maintain testing logs
- Support overall quality assurance efforts on TxDOT projects
- Conduct field and laboratory testing of construction materials (e.g. asphalt concrete soil aggregates) following applicable standards (ASTM AASHTO TxDOT)
- Review project specifications and drawings to ensure compliance with quality standards
- Monitor and document field operations for adherence to quality standards and safety protocols
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification is preferred.
- Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in construction quality control or related fields.
- ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I
- NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing (Soils Asphalt or Concrete)
- TxAPA or TxDOT certifications in asphalt soils or aggregates testing
Preferred Certifications:
- ACI Field Grade 1 Huge plus.
- TxDOT Level 1A for soils Preferred.
- TxDOT Level 1B for flexible base Preferred.
- Hot Mix Level 1 or Level 2 Preferred.
Requirements:
- Ability to verify dimensions elevations and material compliance.
- Familiarity with concrete testing procedures and documentation.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting project plans specifications and standards.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in using computers and QCQA software for reporting and data management
