Position Summary

Concordia University Wisconsin (CUW) invites applications for a full-time 12-month faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Department of Physical Therapy within the School of Health Professions. We seek a mission-driven dynamic and student-centered individual with a passion for teaching scholarship and service within the field of Physical Therapy education.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the Christian mission of the University and will integrate a biblical worldview into academic instruction and professional practice. All Concordia faculty are members of Christian congregations.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Program Chair and core faculty in curriculum development and review
  • Teach in areas aligned with expertise. Preferred teaching responsibilities include acute care geriatrics integumentary pediatrics and/ or movement science content with opportunities to teach in other areas
  • Provide course coordination and assessment including day-to-day course management
  • Advise and mentor students throughout the academic program
  • Participate in the CAPTE accreditation process
  • Contribute to the Universitys scholarship expectations through:
    • Peer-reviewed research and publication
    • Grant writing and submission
    • Creative and scholarly achievements
  • Provide meaningful service to the university department and the physical therapy profession or similar profession
  • Assist with student recruitment orientation and retention initiatives
  • Serve on university and departmental committees
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to teach across the curriculum in both traditional and bridge DPT programs
  • Demonstrated integration of faith and learning in education
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Commitment to excellence in higher education teaching
  • Supportive of the mission and values of Concordia University Wisconsin/Ann Arbor and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod (LCMS)

Education & Experience

  • Earned terminal academic degree (PhD or equivalent) and content specialist required or

Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) degree from a CAPTE-accredited program and PhD

  • Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in physical therapy
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a Physical Therapist in the State of Wisconsin
  • Demonstrated ability to meet CAPTE and university scholarly output expectations
  • ABPTS certification preferred
  • Higher education teaching experience
  • Service to the profession at the local state or national level is desired
