- Inspect mechanical rooms for operation logs equipment maintenance steam and water leaks on various types of boilers pumps valves and pipes
- Perform all maintenance functions and initiates work orders from start to completion
- Perform preventative maintenance emergency repairs and final repairs on all HVAC equipment controls and related equipment
- Coordinate with various maintenance employees in responding to emergency situations at campus sites and resolve routine work-related problems
- Inspect mechanical rooms for operation logs equipment maintenance malfunctions and makes necessary repairs
- Request additional assistance from Supervisor when needed. Will not contact technicians directly or will not act as a supervisor over HVAC and maintenance personnel
- Maintain accurate historical and financial records and files including preventive maintenance schedules work orders from initiation to completion purchase orders inventory accurate submission of time cards and absences; submit all reports to the supervisor or as required
- Maintain good public relations and communications with supervisors co-workers Principals department heads and school and public customers
- Responsible to initiate or request cross-training from peers
- Diagnose troubleshoot disassemble repair maintain and service HVAC maintenance and other facility equipment
- Troubleshoot ad maintain pneumatic and electrical control system related o HVAC equipment.
- Perform schedule preventive maintenance as assigned
- Inspect and repair of all types of air-conditioning air handlers boilers and associated equipment
- Inspect various air moving equipment and HVAC systems that remove heat/cool from buildings and/or conditions air for any malfunction; repair malfunction and make other adjustments as needed
- Operate hand and power tools and other equipment using good safety practices
- Maintain inventory of tools equipment and vehicles; inform supervisor of any known problems immediately and provide documentation during inspection and/or inventory of tools equipment and vehicle as required
- Recommend emergency purchase order requests and maintain work order recordkeeping from initiation of a work order to completion
- Assist in obtaining materials using the proper Dallas ISD purchasing procedures
- Repair and install pumps and electric motors to various types of HVAC systems and equipment perform swimming pool system maintenance as applicable
- Inspect and repair air handlers and multi-zone heating expansion cooling units fiberglass piping window units and other HVAC equipment
- Perform self-quality control and assist in long range planning when directed
- Must be able to respond to emergency and after hour call-outs
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
- Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency
- Chlorofluorocarbon (CFC) Universal Certification required
- HVAC trade school certification preferred
- Three (3) years of directly related experience including experience in all types of HVAC and building repair including electrical and plumbing to keep equipment in operational order problem solving supervising contracts as assigned and working knowledge HVAC and related systems
- Must have an understanding of microelectronics due to use of this technology in solid state equipment controls
- Knowledge of procurement contracts inspection and repair of HVAC equipment maintaining equipment in excellent operation and energy management systems
- Knowledge of the technical crafts utilized within and outside the HVAC function
- Knowledge of facility Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) construction and ability to interpret Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) plans and specifications required to perform job functions
- Knowledge of basic and complex types of automatic controls and systems instrumentation
- Knowledge of Energy Management System (EMS) technology
- Knowledge of best practices and current trends in the HVAC/Mechanical Electrical and Plumbing (MEP)
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of District and contractor personnel
- Organizational communication and interpersonal skills required to achieve the goals of the position
- Valid Texas drivers license and a driving record that meets Districts standard
- Must be able to work in confined spaces; frequently required to use ladder climb or balance at a height up to 30 feet
- Must be able to respond to emergency and after hour emergencies
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
