Description

The Senior Advisor Finance Partnerships is a strategic leadership role that delivers consultative financial expertise to executive leadership department directors and accounting teams. This position blends strategic financial advisory with relationship management to foster trusted partnerships across the organization.

The advisor enables evidence-informed decision-making business planning and continuous improvement by aligning financial strategies with organizational addition to overseeing accountants responsible for strategic finance policy fiscal management and reporting the role drives strategic and operational financial planning and ensures reliable transparent and value-driven financial solutions for client departments.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level financial advisory services to the Executive Team department directors and managers supporting strategic financial planning reporting and comprehensive financial management
  • Act as a trusted advisor and sounding board to senior leadership offering strategic financial guidance to support critical decision-making
  • Consult coach and advise leaders on financial programs policies guidelines and standards connecting them to appropriate lead areas for capital planning budgeting forecasting and strategic planning
  • Monitor financial and organizational trends staying current on policies programs and Council direction
  • Direct department accountants and oversee long-term financial and business planning including annual and multi-year operating budgets emergency funding and comprehensive financial reporting
  • Develop and sustain systems for monitoring analyzing and forecasting operating costs identifying trends and risks and providing actionable recommendations
  • Lead cross-divisional accountant meetings to support shared decision-making and adherence to County standards
  • Provide financial insights and scenario modeling to support corporate initiatives including service reviews and transformation projects
  • Participate in corporate planning cycles contributing financial expertise to development monitoring and evaluation
  • Recruit develop and guide a skilled team providing feedback and fostering growth

Qualificationsand Skills:

  • Professional accounting designation required (CPA)
  • Post-secondary degree with a minimum of seven years of relevant experience or a diploma with a minimum of nine years of relevant experience
  • Extensive knowledge of financial analysis budgeting forecasting and reporting techniques
  • Experience in municipal government is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of municipal and provincial legislation public sector practices and government operations including the ability to develop and implement policies in compliance with legislation
  • Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) the CPA Handbook Public Sector Accounting Standards (PSAS) and the Municipal Government Act
  • Proficiency in integrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems Oracle Cloud preferred and strong skills in Microsoft Excel Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills to clearly convey recommendations and analysis to Council the Executive Team directors senior leaders and department staff
  • Ability to work under pressure manage multiple projects and consistently meet tight deadlines.
