Position Summary:
The On-Call videographer is a natural creative storyteller responsible for shooting lighting audio and grip for KQED remote productions. This includes shooting on-camera interviews b-roll and drone footage. This position requires proficiency in operating cinematic field cameras audio gear lighting and basic grip equipment. The on-call videographer will collaborate with a field producer in order to execute on-location shoots. This position is in the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians (NABET) union.
Essential Functions:
- Shooting video on location including on-camera interviews b-roll beauty shots and drone
- Knowledge of cinematic Canon cameras - specifically the C300 and the C70
- Operate aerial drone
- Proficiency in sound recording including wireless lavalier handheld and boom microphones
- Proficiency in lighting techniques
- Working with creative content teams in order to execute video shoots
- Basic cleaning and maintenance of remote gear including cameras audio equipment and lighting and grip equipment
- Perform other duties as assigned
Knowledge/Experience Required:
- Minimum five years of experience as a camera operator/videographer
- Licensed to operate aerial drone
- Must have valid drivers license
- Demonstrable grasp of show/story structure and pacing to provide post-production team footage for editing
- Experience troubleshooting video audio and lighting issues
- Knowledge of editorial principles ethics and standards
- Ability to steadily handle multiple tasks in a high-pressure production environment
- Ability to perform as a team player and maintain a professional manner when navigating various personality types
Knowledge/Experience Desired:
Previous experience with food-related content.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to lift heavy equipment
- Ability to operate camera for extended periods
- Agility to film in quick-paced and tight environments such as kitchens restaurants crowds
- Ability to stand and/or sit for extended periods
