EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
This position is responsible for supportingthe schoolin collaboration with the Sioux City Community Schools and Juvenile Courts.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Support school officials with student attendance anddiscipline issues.
Support Juvenile Court with intake and monitoring students affiliated with Juvenile Court Services.
Assists in accessing community and school resources to enable the students to achieve academic success and education goals.
Conducts home visits to motivate students at risk of failure in school and encourage their families to promote academic achievement and improve school attendance.
Responds to student referrals conducts various group and individual student sessions/activities.
Works with students their parents and staff on effective strategies to increase school engagement and graduation rates.
Monitors academic and behavior progress through district generated reports.
Participates and contributes to department/program public relations.
Submits required records and documentation for in a timely manner. Keeps a daily log of student/parent contacts.
Conducts self in a professional manner in dealing with students employees and the public.
QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum education include a bachelors degree preferably in education or social work. Experience working with students their families and community in an educational setting. Experience in developing culturally relevant strategies that involve parents schools and the community in preventing students from dropping out of school.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS
Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of individuals and groups from all levels of the organization. Individual must have effective listening skills.
ANALYTICAL and REASONING SKILLS
Individual must also be able to handle a large number of complex tasks and assignments at the same time through effective multi-tasking and time management skills. Ability to work with a variety of data. Problem solving is required to identify issues and create action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines. Attention to detail is necessary.
TECHNOLOGY SKILLS
Individual must be competent in technology. Must also have the capability to collect and sort data through technology.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Normal office physical demands. May periodically have moderate physical demands and may be required to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Generally employee works inside.
OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
Will perform other duties as may be assigned by the superintendent or designee necessary and appropriate to achievement of the program and/or District goals and objectives.
