Requirements: Must be a BSN (between junior and senior year) or ADN student and have completed one full year of clinical rotations Must have completed skills labs Current BLS for the Healthcare Provider or completed within 60 days of hire Must be available to work off-shifts and weekends Must be able to work 40-72 hours per pay period for 10-12 consecutive weeks during summer months Must be able to be flexible with when scheduled to work and able to work the schedule of the assigned RN preceptor.

STANDARDS:

• Promotes patient safety by maintaining HH standards and implementing the policies and procedures of the hospital and nursing unit including maintaining the patients bill of rights.

PATIENT CARE:

Demonstrates clinical competence on patient care by assisting the RN preceptor with all aspects of the nursing process and the provision of handson patient care.

• Assists with assessment/diagnosis.
• Assists with outcomes identification and development of patients plan of care.
• Assists with evaluation of patients plan of care.
• Follows hospital and unit specific guidelines and communicates or documents completed activities as required.
• Performs required clinical skills including but not limited to: vital sign measurement; aseptic technique; specimen collection.
• Performs patient care tasks related to activities of daily living such as bathing feeding hair skin and oral care.
• Gathers data including but not limited to: Intake; output; vital signs; patient height and weight; and point-of-care test results.

ROLE ACCOUNTABILITY:

Demonstrates professionalism and works collaboratively with the RN preceptor to determine and accept delegated duties.

Informs RN preceptor of any issues or concerns related to patient care and safety.
