KBR has an immediate need for an energetic and dynamic Enterprise Infrastructure Systems Administrator in support of the United States Geological Survey (USGS) Earth Resources Observation & Science (EROS) Center ( near Sioux Falls SD ().

The EROS Information Technology Services Division (ITSD) is seeking an Enterprise Infrastructure Systems Administrator to join a diverse and highly skilled team. This role leads technical operations across both Windows and Unix/Linux environments (with a primary focus on Linux). The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership mentorship and deep technical expertise in managing on-premises virtual and cloud-based systems.

You will be responsible for the full lifecycle of IT systems and servicesincluding deployment configuration maintenance and decommissioning. This position emphasizes security automation and continuous improvement while also fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing within the team.

Education: Minimum of an AA in Computer Science; BS/BA preferred.

Experience: Minimum of six years of directly related technical professional experience required.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Lead and support the administration of Linux (RHEL OEL Rocky) and Windows environments.
  • Configure maintain and monitor physical and virtual servers containers and specialized software.
  • Perform system maintenance patching and vulnerability remediation to ensure a secure and stable environment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues using diagnostic tools and root cause analysis.
  • Manage user access controls and system security settings.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including SOPs and system configurations.
  • Serve as a technical lead on IT projects from design through implementation and post-deployment support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver integrated IT solutions.
  • Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development and knowledge sharing.

Required Skills:

  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field (Bachelors preferred).
  • Minimum of 6 years of directly related technical experience.
  • Strong working knowledge ofLinux (RHEL OEL Rocky)andWindowsoperating systems.
  • Experience withserver application and container provisioningandautomation.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages ( Python) and data formats ( YAML).
  • Familiarity withIaC/CaC tools( SaltStack Terraform).
  • Experience withvirtualization and container platforms( vSphere NetApp Kubernetes Docker).
  • Solid understanding ofsecurity practicesincident/problem management andmonitoring tools.
  • Excellent interpersonal organizational leadership and communication skills.

Other Desired Skills:

  • Certifications such asRHCSA VCP AWS Azure orITIL v3/v4 Foundation.
  • Experience with tools likeJira (Agile/Scrum)BMC RemedySolarWindsSplunkNlyte DCIM.
  • Awareness or experience withcloud platforms(AWS Azure).
  • Familiarity withcode debugging tools and techniques.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Three years of continuous residency in the US for issuance of a Government Security credential
  • The candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a national agency check and background investigation after hiring to obtain a badge for government facility access and user account

Experience and/or Education in lieu of these qualifications will be reviewed for applicability to meet these requirements.
